I am from Myanmar where thousands of communities are now suffering from the impacts caused by the most devastating floods in history.

According to media reports,millions people will be affected by the floods and things are likely to go worse in the affected areas. Unfortunately, the international community still keeps silent to provide relief to affected communities. Recent floods have rendered thousands of people homeless. They have lost what they possess_ most of them have no other source of income except agriculture. Their life is now in deep water with no place to go and no mean of livelihood.

Through the columns of your esteemed paper, may I request you to arouse the readers to contribute as much as they can to the relief fund initiated by the government. We must thank GOD that we are safe. So we should be kind and helpful to those in deep water. If we do not help the miserable people, who would? Each and everyone of us should at least donate a day’s income to the relief fund. Let them stop thinking that they are being neglected at the moment of need. Let’s spread our helping hands to these vulnerable communities to ensure they feel that they are not walking alone.
